William Gist Jeter III, husband of Jill Jackson Jeter, of Nichols, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. Born in Leesville, Louisiana on February 4, 1968, he was the son of the late William Gist Jeter Jr and the late Margueritte Bamburg Jeter.
William was a 1990 graduate of The Citadel where he earned a degree in Chemistry. He was a devoted husband and father and found enormous pride in the accomplishments of his children and could always be found at their athletic events.
He was an accomplished musician and excellent vocalist. One of his favorite past times was freshwater fishing and being outdoors. He was well known for his wicked sense of humor and he never met a stranger. William freely provided advice on any given subject, whether solicited or not. One of his true strengths was his ability to listen. He was extremely proud of his 2019 National Champion LSU Tiger Football Team.
William is survived by the love of his life, Jill Jackson Jeter and children, Jackson and Isabella of Nichols; his brother, Russell Beaird of Leesville, LA, sisters Sheri Hughes (Ken) of Leesville, LA, Mary Jeter (Greg) of Chicago, IL and Cynthia Murphy (Matt) of Pawleys Island, SC. William also leaves his mother-in-law, Arlene Jackson of Nichols and sister-in-law, Jada Kellison (Todd) of Morehead, City, NC, as well as 4 nieces and 4 nephews to cherish his memory.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2020 in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home in Mullins with Phyllis Elvington officiating. Visitation with the family will be held in the chapel of the funeral home following the service. It is respectfully requested that all in attendance wear a mask and practice social distancing. A kind word in lieu of a hug or handshake would be appreciated.
