William F. (Bill) Bellamy, 83, passed away, Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Embrace Hospice in Myrtle Beach, SC surrounded by family.
He was born December 28, 1939, in Conway, SC a son of the late Howell V. Bellamy and Katherine Healon Bellamy, Sr.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Myrtle Beach. He started his career as a bag boy at the age of 8 at Chapin Company. After graduating from Myrtle Beach High School, he attended the Citadel and Campbell College. He then joined the US Air Force and Served in Charleston, SC, and Alaska where he enjoyed his favorite pastime of hunting and fishing. When he returned home, he started his Banking Career with Peoples Bank, then Anchor Bank and retired from Carolina First Bank in 2005. After retirement he took many trips to Louisiana to help with Relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina. He also attended many years of Salkehatchie Summer Service with his girls. He was very Active in the Emmaus Community. Flying Model Airplanes was one of his favorite hobbies and he exuded immense passion for maintaining a beautiful yard. As a younger man, he could be found water skiing with friends at Sandy Island and running his handmade river skimmer down the river. Once he became a grandfather, he made sure to spend quality time with all his grands making memories together including spending summer vacation in Murrells Inlet with all his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Howell V. Bellamy Sr. & Katherine H. Bellamy. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosalie Barrineau Bellamy, and his brother Howell V. (Skeets) Bellamy, Jr., daughters Macon Bellamy Davis (Johnny), Merritt Jordan (KJ) and Susan Bellamy Wright (Dwayne). Grandchildren include Rylie Jordan, Adia Davis, Claire Davis, Emma Bellamy, Reese Jordan, Anna Grace Wright, and William (Will) Wright.
The family will greet friends at McMillan-Small Funeral Home on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 pm. A memorial service will be 2pm Friday, September 15, 2023 at First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach with Rev. Joel McMakin and Rev. Jeff Dunn officiating. Burial will be held privatel at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery in Myrtle Beach, SC.
