William E. “Bill” Taylor, Jr., 94, longtime Savannah Dentist, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Buckingham South. He was born January 19, 1927 in Savannah to the late William E. Taylor and Alice Holm Taylor. Educated in Savannah area schools, Bill graduated from Savannah High School in 1945 and then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II . Bill then went on to graduate from The Citadel Military College and the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Dr. Taylor practiced dentistry in Savannah for 43 years, retiring in 1997. As a faithful member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church for 65 years, he served on various church committees and loved being an active member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Dr. Taylor was a member of the American Dental Association for 67 years, the Georgia Dental Association and the Southeastern District Dental Association. For decades, he enjoyed meeting the Original Clary’s Lunch Bunch (doctors and dentists who practiced downtown) for lunch and fellowship. He was also a member of The Chatham Dove Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, C. Angela Taylor and his brother, Jack H. Taylor. Dr. Taylor is survived by his eight children, Robin Canady (Mike) of Savannah, Karen Yeager of Pace, FL, Willie Taylor (Sandy) of Millersville, MD, Laura Owings of Grayson, GA, Joanne Faulk (Will) of Savannah, David Taylor of Savannah, Richard Taylor (Michelle) of Rincon, GA, and Kate Theodocion (Pete) of Augusta, GA. Also surviving are two brothers, Andrew H. Taylor and Dewey H. Taylor, 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews. His family would like to give special recognition and thanks to the staff at Buckingham South and to his many caregivers for their kind and compassionate care of Dr. Taylor over the past two years. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 2, 2021 at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 2, 2021 at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church. Private burial with U.S. Navy honors will follow.
