William “Bill” Myrick III, age 61, of Barnwell, SC, died Monday, January 9, 2015.
Bill was the son of Kathleen Dunbar Myrick and W.E. Myrick, Jr. of Allendale. Bill graduated from Allendale-Fairfax High school in 1971, was a honor student, member of the track, football and basketball teams. Bill was a ‘ 75 graduate of the Citadel, First Sergeant of the Summerall Guard and played one year for The Citadel football team.
While working for Armor Pharmaceutical, Bill was a member of the S.C. Hemophilic Assoc. giving one week vacation a year to instruct boys on the techniques of infusion. He served for 17 years in the Barnwell Boys Scouts as Cub Master and other leadership roles. Bill was an ordained deacon in the S. C. Baptist Convention and a member of the Baptist Church of Beaufort.
In 1994 Bill joined C.R. Bard of Atlanta, as a hospital sales representative. He became a senior sales rep., was a Top Performer 15 years and retired after 27 years with Bard.
Bill was predeceased by his uncle G. Morrison Myrick, Citadel Class of ’66. He leaves his wife of 35 years Linda Murphy Myrick of Barnwell, daughter Rebecca Susan Gallagher (John Brandon) of Meggett, son CPT William E. Myrick IV US Army Special Forces, sister, Jane Ashley McMillan of Dallas TX, brothers James D. Myrick (Bett), Charleston, John Myrick(Sandra), Beaufort, grandchildren Josephine and Wilkins Brandon.
Bill Myrick was loved and respected for his tenderness, gentle heart, and devotion to his family. He was a great story teller and kept people laughing for days. Bill was a skilled hunter and loved the great outdoors. He had command on the dance floor and was one snappy dresser.
The family requests those that care to remember Bill can do so, with a donation to The Citadel Foundation 171 Moultrie St., Charleston, SC 29409, designated to the Linda Murphy Myrick Scholarship.
A Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Barnwell, 161 Allen Street, Barnwell. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
