William King Jr.KING, JR., William William Eugene Bill King, Jr., widower of Anne Gonsior King, entered into eternal rest on September 9, 2005 in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The relatives and friends of Mr. William Bill King, Jr. are invited to attend his memorial service, Sunday, September 11, 2005 at two o’clock at First United Methodist Church in Marion, SC. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Mr. King was born on December 5, 1923, in Aynor, SC, the son of Dr. W. Eugene and Catherine Carter King. He graduated from Aynor High School, then was called into service during World War II with the Citadel Class of 1944. He was discharged as a First Lieutenant, having served in the Phillipines and finished the Citadel in 1947. After teaching physics at the Citadel and working on a masters degree at Lehigh University, the newly married couple settled in Columbia, SC for a career in sales. Later Mr. King and family moved to Batesburg, SC, for extensive service with Imperial Casket Company and subsequently retired from ownership of a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Marion, SC. He was a devout Christian who taught Sunday School for over forty years and served on various church committees. He served as a lay Methodist minister and was a member of the Methodist Men’s Club. Mr. King was a life long Civitan serving in all club and state offices, served on many community committees and was President of the Chamber of Commerce of Marion, SC. He was a servant to all people. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Mary Capitola Sutherland wife of James L. Sutherland of Atlanta, GA and Polly K. Goldston wife of Sonny W.T. Goldston, Jr. of North Augusta, SC, one son and daughter-in-law, William Eugene King, III husband of Doris Hutto King of Mt. Pleasant, SC, three granddaughters Caroline JaneAnne Goldston of Folly Beach, Catherine Marie Sutherland of Atlanta, GA and Doris Bryant King of Mt. Pleasant, SC and one grandson, Lt. Michael Eugene Goldston, USN, serving in the Persian Gulf. He was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Winnifred Solomons and Capitola King Weston.
