William E. Douglas, Sr. (Bill), Age 79, of Tallahassee, Florida, died on Saturday, August 18, 2018. He was born July 10, 1939 in Jacksonville, Florida. After graduation from Landon Senior High School, he attended and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the Citadel. Bill worked as an engineer for the Florida Department of Transportation for 30 years, retiring in 1991. After retirement from the State, he owned several engineering firms including DEC Engineering, Sound Structures and Earthworks Geotechnical. Bill was a life member of the Florida Engineering Society, serving in various leadership roles during his membership. In addition, he was a Mason and a member of the Marzuq Shrine Temple.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly T. Douglas; daughter Natalie Wolfe, of Tallahassee, FL; daughter Amy Scales and her husband Brian of Winter Springs, FL; son William Douglas, Jr and his wife Gidget of Elgin, SC; daughter Stacey Austin and her husband William (Wick) of Winter Springs, FL; daughter Stephanie Brown and her husband Mark of Cataula, GA; and numerous grand children and great grand children.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 24th at 3:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church, Tallahassee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
