William Drysdale Rosencrantz, 66, of St. Andrews Ct., Granger, Ind., died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2004, in Hospice House following an illness. Mr. Rosencrantz was born Oct. 28, 1938, in Plainfield, N.J., to the late Charick Vreeland and Mary Jane (Drysdale) Rosencrantz and had lived in the South Bend, Ind. Area since 1972 coming from Wheeling W. Va. On January 14, 1961, in Cranford, N.J., he married Gayle Waddill who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Holly R. (Christopher) Scott of New York; two sons, William D. (Liz) Rosencrantz Jr. Of South Bend and Chadd B. (Sue) Rosencrantz of Plymouth, Ind.; and five grandchildren, Carmen, Melissa, Theresa, Alex, and Heidi. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Heidi Maravolo in 1986. Mr. Rosencrantz retired in 2001 as the Regional Manager of Trustmark Insurance Co. after 21 years service and had also been employed by Aetna Insurance Co. for 16 years. He graduated from the Citadel in 1960. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, South Bend, Knollwood Country Club, the University Club, and the President’s Council of Trustmark Insurance Co. He was a member of the board of directors of the American Red Cross, the Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Life and Health Underwriters and was a past-president of the Irish Youth Hockey League. Some of his favorite summer hours were spent aboard his boat, Hobzie, harbored in South Haven, Mich. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 13th in First Presbyterian Church, 333 W. Colfax Ave., South Bend, with Rev. David Morrow officiating. Cremation will take place in Michiana Crematory, South Bend, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, December 12th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., South Bend.
