William Dewey (Bill) Mason Jr., 84, of Roanoke, Virginia, died on Monday, January 19, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Anne Segars Mason; and his parents, William Dewey Mason and Mary Guthrie Mason. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Anne Mason Huff, of Roanoke, Va.; a son, William Burrell Mason and wife, Tina Simmons Mason, of Matthews, N.C.; grandchildren, Mary Patricia Huff Grieser and husband, Stephen Grieser, of Macon, Ga., Ainsley Marie Huff Pfeiffer and husband, Ryan Pfeiffer, of Richmond, Va., William Trent Mason, of Wilmington, N.C., and Tiffany Anne Mason, of Hilton Head, S.C.; great-granddaughters, Madison Marie Pfeiffer and Olivia Anne Pfeiffer. He was a long time member of Second Presbyterian Church. Mr. Mason retired from the former Norfolk & Western Railway (Norfolk Southern) with 33 years of service. He graduated from the Citadel, Charleston, S.C. in 1949 following three years of military service in World War II. He had been an avid tennis player. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Second Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m., Friday, January 23. 2009. Gerald Carter will officiate. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Second Presbyterian Church, 214 Mountain Ave., S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24016. Tags: 1949
