William (Bill) C. Twitty, Jr. of Greenville, SC died March 26, 2022. Born June 16, 1947 in Charlotte, NC, Bill was the son of the late William C. Twitty and Harriet DeCoursey Coiner (Billie) Twitty. Bill was predeceased by his wife and best friend, Janet Stauffer Twitty. Bill is survived by a daughter, June Twitty Wilcox (Mike Armor); two grandsons Nathan and Ben Wilcox; two sisters Pat Voshell (John Voshell) and Sarah (Puddin) Long (Buck Long); a brother Jim Twitty (Mike Leach); a niece Allison Weed (Travis Weed); a nephew Wesley Voshell (Linn Heng); and a first cousin Sue Holter.
Growing up in Charlotte, Bill graduated from Myers Park High School and then attended The Citadel. After graduating in Civil Engineering from The Citadel in 1969, Bill served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army, Corps of Engineers. After completing the Engineers’ Basic School in Belvoir, VA, Bill was assigned to Ft. Leonardwood, MO and then the Republic of Viet Nam.
After serving in the Army, Bill worked briefly as a design engineer for Duke Power Company in Charlotte. Bill subsequently moved to Greenville and worked for Sloan Construction Co. and Metromont Materials in the construction and materials industries. Bill later established a successful consulting practice that enabled him to spend more quality time away from work.
Bill cherished time with his family and friends and loved to read, play golf, hike, kayak, and travel. Bill was kind and steadfast and genuine. The world is a better place because he was here.
