William C. Crawford Atlanta, GA N/A Age Approx. Date of Death N/A 12/07/2007 Notice Crawford, William* William C. Crawford of Atlanta died Friday December 7, 2007 after a brief illness. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Arlington Memorial Park, Mt. Vernon Road. Mr. Crawford was born in 1919 in Atlanta. He was graduated from Druid Hills High School and in 1939 from the Citadel in Charleston, SC. During World War II, he served as a lieutenant colonel in the US Army Infantry in the European theater, mainly in Germany, and retired as a colonel. In 1948 after leaving the service, he joined Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith and remained with Merrill Lynch for 38 years. He managed the Macon, GA, office from 1958 to 1967, the Memphis, TN, office from 1967 to 1970, and the greater Atlanta office from 1970 until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the Inquiry Club, the Atlanta Kiwanis Club, and was a life member of and golfer at the Capital City Club. He was also a member of the board of directors of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home for cancer patients. Further, he was a member of Christ the King Cathedral. Mr. Crawford is survived by his wife, Mary Evans Crawford, his two daughters Betty Crawford Troup and Susan Crawford, and grandchildren Peter Troup, Susan Elizabeth Troup, and Mary Ellen Troup, all of Atlanta. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the Shepherd Spinal Center
