Willam B. Sternberger, of Winter Garden, Fla., born on Sept 9, 1959, at WPAFB in Dayton, Ohio passed away on Jan 11, 2017 in Winter Garden, Florida. Barry is survived by his loving wife & soulmate Pamela and his loving & devoted daughter, Tracynda (Winter Garden, FL); his mother-in-law, Linda Varney; 2 siblings, Bonnie Craven & Jay Daniels; a nephew, Robert Craven & many extended family & friends worldwide. He is preceded in death by his parents: Colonel Nathan Sternberger & Dolly (Turner) Sternberger, brothers: Lt Cmdr Alan Sternberger & Robert Sternberger. Barry proudly graduated in 1981 from The Citadel in Charleston, SC and continued his education at Central Michigan University and earned his Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Cincinnati in 2002. Barry served in the US Navy & Reserves for 20+ years. He served on the John F. Kennedy during Desert Shield/Storm in 1990/1991. Barry served for the U.S. Dept of State for 15 years in various countries worldwide. He was awarded countless merit & honor awards from the U.S. Navy, MFO & State Dept. Barry was an avid Disney fan and world traveler. He loved safaris! Two memorial services will be held. Services will be at First Baptist Church in Winter Garden on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 3:30pm. A celebration of life service will be held in Dayton, Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to The Citadel, SC or an esophageal cancer charity.
