William B. Spencer, 82, of Chesterfield County, Virginia, passed away April 24, 2012, after a battle with cancer. He was born on September 10, 1930, in Elmira, New York. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Tate Spencer; his daughter, Susan Spencer Cheever; and his grandson, Nicholas Spencer Cheever. He was predeceased by his parents, Wallace Earl Spencer and Edith Beveridge Spencer; his sister, Mary Jane Wonch; and his granddaughter, Tasha Leigh Cheever. Mr. Spencer graduated from The Citadel in 1952 and received a graduate degree from Georgia Tech. He worked as a chemist and later in management for E.I. DuPont. He also served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Artillery, from 1953 to 1955. A private ceremony will be held by the family at a later date. Tags: 1952
