William “Bill” Alexander Spivey, 75, of Charleston, the husband of
Geraldine “Jerry” Murray Spivey, entered into eternal rest on Sunday,
March 21, 2010, at a local hospital. He was born in Florence, SC, the
son of Emory Lamar Spivey and Louise Augustus Grier Spivey on Friday,
September 7, 1934. Bill was a graduate of The Citadel, Class of 1956,
where he was the co-captain of the basketball team his senior year. He
honorably served our country in the US Army and was a civil engineer who
owned his own firm. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church for 60
years before becoming a member of Providence Baptist Church on Daniel
Island. He was a member of the Blue Field Hunt Club, the Brigadier Club,
The Citadel Alumni Association, a charter member of the Shadowmoss Golf
Club and Past President of the Electrical Apparatus Service Association,
Southeastern Chapter. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine
“Jerry” M. Spivey; three children, Pamela Karen Spivey, William Lamar
Spivey, Lara Elizabeth Spivey Maguire; a daughter-in-law, Julie Dean
Spivey; a sister, Geraldine “Jerry ” Spivey Orrell and eight
grandchildren. He is predeceased by a son, Christopher Allen Spivey. The
relatives and friends of Mr. And Mrs. William A. Spivey are invited to
attend his Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the
graveside in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. A Memorial Service will be held
at 12:00 Noon also on Thursday at Providence Baptist Church on Daniel
Island with receiving of friends following the service. In lieu of
