Wilbur Veikko ‘Will’ Kaven, August 31, 1923 – June 15, 2008. Resident of Fremont Entered into eternal rest on June 15, 2008 at the age of 84. Loving husband to Mae L. Kaven of Fremont. Beloved father to Lynn Kaven Young of Rocklin, and Lauren Scott Kaven, of Lafayette, CO. Treasured grandfather to Dr. Ashley Young Vande Kieft and her husband, Erik, Merin Lynn Young, Bradley Young, and Clifford Scott Winter. Born August 31, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, Will retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 32 years of service in the Air Force. He served during WWII and Vietnam as a fighter pilot with the U.S. Air Force. He was then employed by the Los Angeles International Airport as Superintendent of Operations and later as Assistant Manager of Van Nuys Airport. In Fremont he was employed by Meals on Wheels. Will had a Master’s degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University and a Master’s in Public Administration from USC. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi engineering society, the Finlandia Foundation S.F. Bay Chapter, and Christ the King Lutheran Church in Fremont. Will was an avid reader, calligrapher, and music lover. A memorial service will be held in his honor at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1301 Mowry Ave., Fremont, CA 94538 on July 12 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church in Fremont or St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Fremont Chapel of the Roses (510) 797-1900.
