Warren Verdoe Kellahan, 62, husband of Paula Smith Kellahan, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Mr. Kellahan was born April 1, 1949, in Kingstree, a son of the late William N. and Lemyra Ward Kellahan. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and The Citadel. Warren was retired as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and was retired from South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control after 32 years. For the past seven years, he taught and coached at Williamsburg Academy, where he was admired and respected by both students and faculty, who fondly called him “Coach Woody.” He was a member of Kingstree Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by an infant son, Boyd Lee Kellahan. Surviving in addition to his wife, Paula of Kingstree, are: his children, Jennifer K. (Jay) Hedrick of Kingstree, Jamie (Shelby) Kellahan of Irmo, Suzanne Williams of Sumter and Drew Kellahan of Kingstree; three grandchildren, Blake Rowell and Margaret Ryan Hedrick of Kingstree and James Warren Kellahan of Irmo; and three siblings, Nicky (Alice) Kellahan, Myron (Sherry) Kellahan and Marcena K. (Mike) Tisdale, all of Kingstree. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Kingstree Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Cedar Swamp United Methodist Church cemetery.
