Walter Edward “Ed” Robbins Jr. passed away Friday morning, January 22, 2021 at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. He was 74.
Ed was born in Walterboro January 23, 1946 a son of the late Walter E. Robbins Sr. and Catherine Glover Robbins. He was a 1973 graduate of The Citadel, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Ed spent over twenty years as the transportation supervisor of the Colleton County School District, and after his retirement, was an insurance agent for various agencies in the area.
Ed was a driving force on stage, as well as behind the scenes, writing for the variety series of the 80’s and 90’s. He was involved with many other theatrical organizations in Colleton County, and had a passion for photography, reading, music, and his family. He was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro.
Ed is survived by his wife, Janice Berry Robbins, and by two children, Jennifer R. Bunton (Jamie), and William Robbins (Andrea). He leaves behind his granddaughter Catherine, his grandson Jim, a grand-cat, and five great grand-dogs. Ed was preceded in death in December by his brother Bill Robbins.
Due to the situation that currently exists in the community with the coronavirus, the family will hold a private graveside service at Live Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter (FOCCAS). Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
