Valdemar Vasquez, 74, of Ladson, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022. The relatives and friends of Valdemar Vasquez are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Parks Funeral Home, 130 W. 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Beaufort National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted. Valdemar was born in Batesville, Texas on April 27, 1947. He was the son of Lazaro and Ester Vasquez. He graduated from the Citadel with a Master’s Degree and retired from the United States Navy as a Chief and clinical counselor and bravely served in the Vietnam War. Valdemar loved music, race cars, grilling, traveling and the White Sox. He adored his grandchildren Jocelyn and Sophia. He is survived by his son, Derek Neal Vasquez; daughter, Lana Summerson (Warren); his brothers, Raul Vasquez (Mary), Rudy Vasquez and Raymundo Vasquez; his sisters, Emma Davila, Dora Patino, Olivia Lopez (Tony), Delia Godinez and Estella Guzman (Alex) and his grandchildren, Jocelyn and Sophia Summerson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lazaro Vasquez, Jr. and his sister, Celia Castaneda.
