Timothy Furman Touchberry, born September 1st, 1950, to Furman and Esther Touchberry, passed away surrounded by family and love on Thursday, February 6th, 2025. Tim was a graduate of Stall High School, the Baptist College, and received his master’s from The Citadel.
Tim dedicated his professional life to education and athletics. He began his career of teaching and coaching at Stall High School. Then he spent 15 years at Summerville High School, inspiring countless students with his commitment, kindness, and steady leadership. When Fort Dorchester High School opened, he was called to become the Athletic Director, establishing a culture founded in integrity, excellence, and dedication to sportsmanship.
Tim is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Deborah Jantzen Touchberry, and their three children and spouses: Julie (Ron), Russ (Jamie), and Reid (Caitie). He was a proud grandfather to six cherished grandchildren: Sage, Beckham, Jake, Amara, Rand, and Orion, whose lives he enriched with his wisdom, warmth, and unwavering love.
Tim will be remembered as a man of faith, integrity, and compassion who touched the lives of so many. When he was not inspiring future leaders in the school house, you could find him out on the boat fishing, shrimping, and hunting for the perfect bottle. His legacy lives on through the family he loved deeply and the community he served so well.
