BABB, Thomas LAURENS – Thomas Buck Adams Babb, 91, of 209 Ball Drive, husband of Nancy Curtis Babb, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Laurens County Hospital. Born in Laurens, he was a son of the late Robert Edgar and Donie Adams Babb. Mr. Babb served in the US Army during WWII, a 1936 Graduate of the Citadel, and 1939 Graduate of the USC School of Law; and practiced law for over 60 years in Laurens. He was a member and active leader of First United Methodist Church in Laurens and was a member of the Laurens Rotary Club where he was Past President and a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Babb has served as Trustee of State A & M College, State House of Representatives, Board of Commissions of Grievances and Discipline, Special Judge for the Civil and Family Court of Laurens, Trustee of the Bechman Center, President of the Laurens County Bar Association, and Council Member of the South Carolina State Bar. Mr. Babb enjoyed many hobbies, which included reading, traveling, Western square dancing, and sailing where he was a member of the Columbia Sailing Club and charter member of the Western Carolina Sailing Club. Surviving in addition to his wife is one grandson, Thomas Chesterfield Babb of Spartanburg; nephew, Dr. Robert Edgar Babb, III of Charleston; and niece, Janice B. Dowtin of Charleston. He was predeceased by his son and daughter in law, Thomas Fontaine and Holly Dixon Babb; one brother, Robert Edgar Babb, II; and one sister, Beatrice B. Bradley. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 28, 2007 at First United Methodist Church conducted by Pastor Bill Rogers. A private committal service will be at Laurens City Cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends following the service at the church.
