Theodore E. Miller Sr., 88, of Farmington, husband of the late Anna (Bokan) Miller, passed away Sunday (July 20, 2008) at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born in New Britain, he lived in New Britain for many years, moving to The Gables of Farmington a few years ago. Theodore was a graduate of The Citadel, a military college in South Carolina, with a degree in civil engineering in 1949. He also proudly graduated from Yale University with a master’s degree in engineering in 1950. He later became a member of Tau Beta Phi, an honor society for engineers. Theodore worked as a professional civil engineer and land surveyor for the Metropolitan District of Connecticut until his retirement. He became a lifelong member of the America Society of Civil Engineers, along with the National Society of Professional Engineers. Theodore was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving his country in the Army for eight years. He was also a member of the American Legion. Theodore is survived by a son, Theodore E. Miller Jr., and his wife, Maryann, of New Milford; two daughters, Carol Long and her husband, Joseph, of Avon and Barbara Forgit and her husband, Donald, of Farmington; five grandchildren, Kenneth Forgit, Marla Forgit, Patricia Long, Christine Long and Matthew Miller; a brother, Arthur Miller of Glastonbury; a sister-in-law, Albina Bokan Schwanke; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Anna, Theodore was predeceased by a sister, Helen Miller. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (July 23, 2008) at 11 a.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT 06051, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be held from 9 a.m. Wednesday (July 23, 2008) until the time of the service at Carlson Funeral Home.
