Terrell Y. Jackson, 36, of Mt. Pleasant, left this world on Monday, April 9, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with a terrible disease.
He was born on August 3, 1981 in Atlanta, GA, the son to James and Paula (Head) McInerny and where he graduated from Woodward Academy in 2000. After high school, he attended Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA; a 2004 graduate with an Economics and Business degree. At VMI he earned a golf scholarship as a walk on player and ultimately co-captained the team. There he also forged some lifelong bonds with a number of people whom he would have done anything for and they proved in his last months that they were willing to do the same for him.
Upon graduating from VMI, Terrell accepted a job with a large homebuilding company and moved to Annapolis, MD. It was there he met the love of his life, Jessica Ronan, whom he affectionately called “Jess.” They were married in 2009 and eventually moved to Charleston, SC in 2011, where he also earned his MBA from The Citadel in 2014. On August, 1, 2016, he and Jess were blessed with the arrival of a healthy baby boy, Matthew.
Terrell was employed at the Pulte Group as Regional Resource Planning Manager. It was a place he felt extremely proud and fortune to work. His co-workers reciprocated the fondness, by working tirelessly to help move the family into their new home.
Terrell was passionate about a number of things. He dearly loved his wife Jess, his son Matthew, and dog Sammy; as well as, playing golf, boating, and the beach. But, most importantly he cherished his time anywhere in the company of family and close friends; and always looked back fondly at time spent with cousins, aunts, uncles, and Buddy and Papa at their Lake Rabun house.
Those of us who were close to him will remember him as the handsome giant, who always looked for the good in people and wasn’t shy about trying to meet as many people as possible during his time here. Terrell knew how to stir up activity and often defined the notion of getting carried away with something. He was a one man gang who always made life more fun. He never gave up on anything and he never gave up on himself, even at the bitter end.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica R. Jackson, his son and hope for the future, Matthew R. Jackson, his devoted mother Paula H. McInerny, who never left his side the past four years, step-father James M. McInerny, loving sister, Allison J. Rhodes and her husband, Bart D. Rhodes, who continually went way beyond what should be expected of a sibling and brother-in-law; and their two sons, James B. Rhodes and William K. Rhodes, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Barry P. Ronan and Pamela J. Ronan, sister-in-law, Lauren E. Ronan, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, a tremendous number of incredibly loyal friends and co-workers, and of course his dog, Sammy. Rest in peace, Big T.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 12, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, MT. PLEASANT.
A memorial service will be held, Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM, at First Scots Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401. A reception will follow at Molly Weir Hall.
