LYMAN, SC– Stephen D. Gillespie, 56, of 160 Brookdale Acres Drive, Lyman, SC, husband of Marian Dunbar Gillespie, died Friday, May 19, 2006. Born in Greenville, SC, he was a son of the Gene M. Gillespie of Greenville and the late Jean Haas Gillespie. He was a 1971 graduate of The Citadel. Steve was a fourth generation owner of Gillespie Marble & Granite Company that was established in 1898. He was an active member of Tyger River Presbyterian Church of Moore, SC. Surviving in addition to his wife and father, are two sons, Kyle Montgomery Gillespie and his fiancTe, Kimberly Renee Stewart of Boiling Springs and John Thomas Gillespie, III of the home; a sister, Laura Gillespie Greer and her husband Thomas Michael Greer of Greenville; his step-mother, Sylvia Greer Gillespie of Greenville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Monte Dunbar and Timothy Alpha Remaley of Lyman; nephew, Steth Dunbar Remaley of Asheville, NC; two uncles, William Haas of Charlotte, NC and John E. Haas of Columbia; and an aunt, Susan Haas Betenbaugh of Charlotte, NC. Memorial services will be conducted Monday, May 22, 2006 at Tyger River Presbyterian Church, Reidville Road, Moore, SC, with the Rev. Dr. Doug Cushing officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday from 3:00 PM until service time.
