Smith Andrew Westbury, Jr., 82, of Charleston, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 3, 2013. A service in celebration of his life will be held at his graveside in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston. A reception will follow at the home of his daughter. Smitty was born February 14, 1931 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, son of the late Smith Andrew Westbury and Anna Mae Rubye Jenkins Westbury. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army, a graduate of the Citadel, and was a retired Engineer with Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Smitty was a member of the Franklin Lodge #96 AFM, Scottish Rites, The Omar Shrine Temple. Smitty was also an avid fisherman and hunter, and a member of Cypress Point Hunting Club in Chapin, SC. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie W. Kramer and her husband Edward W. Kramer of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Franklin A. Schaefer and Christina A. Schaefer; a great-grandchild, Mikayla A. Schaefer-Walston; two step-grandchildren, Denise A. Dugan and Stephen M. Dugan; a niece and nephew, Elizabeth W. Young and Rodney A. Westbury; and Special Friend and Companion, Panga E. Rawlinson. Smitty was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney A. Westbury.
