Randy Tomlinson SYMRNA, Ga. – Mr. Ryan E. Randy Tomlinson, 60, died Saturday, June 16, in a private plane crash in California. Randy was born in Lake City, South Carolina, a son of the late Ryan Tomlinson and Joyce Finklea Tomlinson. He was a graduate of The Citadel, Class of 1968, where he was a member of the Summerall Guards. Randy was a pilot in the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross. He owned his own audio/video technology company, was a staff writer and critic for The Absolute Sound, Perfect Vision, and Ultimate Theatre AV magazines. He was an avid competitor in auto and motocross racing, as well as a driving instructor for an Atlanta based, advanced driving school. Randy had an unparalleled zest for living, which was well known by everyone who knew and loved him. Mr. Tomlinson is survived by his brother, Finklea Tomlinson; a sister-in-law, Kim Meadows, MD; and a nephew, Harry Tomlinson. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Ryan Tomlinson. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Randy Tomlinson Scholarship Fund; The Citadel; 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2007, in the Lake City Memorial Park.
