Col. Ronald William Davis, USA, Ret., 73, of Kempner, TX, died Tuesday, Oct. 13. He was born on May 30, 1936, in Wilmington, N.C. He was a 1954 graduate of New Hanover High School, where he was awarded the ROTC’s Cape Fear Sword. A 1958 Distinguished Military Graduate of The Citadel, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the infantry. He received a Juris Doctorate degree from University of North Carolina School of Law in 1964 and became a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He retired in 1988, after 30 years of active duty. Licensed to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, he was a member of the North Carolina Bar and the Texas Bar. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Susan Parsons Davis; a son, Bradley W. Davis of N.C.; a daughter, Virginia G. Davis of Kempner; and two sisters, Kathryn Davis Harris of Albemarle, N.C. and Frances Davis Hansen of St. Cloud, Minn. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
