Ronald Simpson Savard, Sr., Colonel, US Army Retired, of West Ashley, entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of Friday, July 14, 2006. The family will receive friends at their home on Friday, July 21 from 5:00 until 7:00 o’clock p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Colonel Savard’s memory are requested to the American Cancer Society, Trident Chapter, 267 Calhoun St., Charleston SC 29401 Born June 15, 1932 in Somerville, MA, son of Frances S. and Wallace F. Savard. Colonel Savard was graduated from The Citadel in 1955 and served in the US Army for 31 years. He attended several military schools including the US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA and led many commands including Division Artillery, Ft. Ord, CA and Chief of Staff, Ft. Gordon, GA. Upon retirement, Col. Savard was the Charleston Regional Manager for Atlas Food Systems and Services for 10 years and later worked for Coastal-Canteen Vending. He is survived by his wife Helen Faress Savard of Charleston; son David Michael Savard of Pittsburgh, PA; son Ronald Simpson Savard, Jr. and grandson Ronald Simpson Savard III of Atlanta, GA. Arrangements were made through PALMETTO CREMATION SOCIETY.
