Robert Warren Keys Jr. (Col. US Army, Ret.), 83, of Inman, SC, died Saturday, July 21, 2018 at White Oak Manor North Grove. Born October 5, 1934 in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Robert Keys Sr. and Lurline Harmon Keys. Bob was a 1952 graduate of Chicora High School, a 1956 graduate of The Citadel, and retired as a Colonel from the U. S. Army after 28 years of service. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and an avid gardener who grew beautiful irises, daylilies and roses. Survivors include his wife, Mildred “Mimi” Garner Keys; son, Robert Warren Keys III (Holly) of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Cindy Rainey (Perry) of Lexington, SC; step-daughter, Paulette Cathcart of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Amanda Thompson (Gabe), David Keys (Alli), Jeffrey Keys, Cameron Rainey, and Trip Rainey; great-granddaughter, Emily Thompson; step-grandson, Thomas Cathcart, Jr. (Kim); and sister, Carolyn Keys Coker of North Charleston. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy McDaniel Keys; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Coker. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM at the chapel, by The Rev. Dick Keller. Burial with Military Rites will follow in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
