Robert Wayne Hall of James Island, South Carolina, died May 11, 2026 after a brief illness – one week short of his 81stbirthday. He was the second oldest child of Francis Carroll Hall and Mary Genevieve Bohl Hall of Baltimore, Maryland. He was educated in the Catholic schools of Maryland, graduating from Mount Saint Joseph High School in 1963. From there he joined G Company at The Citadel on the Star of the West Scholarship, graduating in 1967. He was editor of the newspaper and one of Lt. Colonel Thomas “The Boo” Courvoisie’s “Lambs.” Bob was instrumental in keeping in touch with alumni from his year, keeping up with birthdays and life events. He obtained a master’s degree in English from the University of South Carolina, where he met his wife; later in life he became a serious Gamecocks Women’s Basketball fan. He was a valued and long-time employee of M. B. Kahn Construction Company where he was a site engineer.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Julia Henderson Hall, and their three children: Laura A. Hall (partner Joseph P. Smith) of Silver Spring, Maryland; Benjamin C. Hall (wife Anne Donehue) of James Island; and M. Claire Hall of Columbia. He was predeceased by his siblings: William (twin), Jane, Eileen, James, and Richard.
A burial service and interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. Arrangements are being made with Charleston Cremation Center. Memorials to the Charleston Animal Society or the Lowcountry Food Bank would honor Bob’s love of animals and compassion for those less fortunate.
