Robert Wheeler “Bob” Ashby, 79, of Pinopolis, SC, a former CPA and owner of Memminger Apartments, died Wednesday morning at a Moncks Corner hospital.
His funeral will be 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon, January 5, 2013, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Charleston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 AM until the hour of service on Saturday.
Mr. Ashby was born January 12, 1933, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, a son of H. Everett Ashby and Nell Wheeler Ashby. He enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting, and traveling, especially cruises. He was a member of the Partridge Creek Gun Club and was the former owner of Sherwood Mobile Home Park. Mr. Ashby was a graduate of North Charleston High School, a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Pinopolis United Methodist Church. He also served on the Board of Visitors at Charleston Southern University.
Surviving are, his wife, Jean Purdie Ashby; two sons, Dr. Mark A. Ashby of Sebring, FL, and Stewart E. Ashby of Land O’ Lakes, FL; a step son, Bobby McCormick of Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
