COLUMBIA – Memorial service for Robert Taylor Tindal, 91, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is in charge. Mr. Tindal died Sunday, April 18, 2004. A native of Pinewood, he was a son of the late George and Cora Taylor Tindal. A graduate of The Citadel, he received a master’s degree from Georgia Tech and doctorate from the University of Texas. A longtime educator having served as professor at five different colleges, he was retired as Bureau Chief of Environmental Engineering at the Department of Health and Environmental Control. Mr. Tindal was a longtime member of Trinity Cathedral and a past member of Columbia Sailing Club. Surviving are daughter, Capers Tindal of Columbia; son and daughter-in-law, Robert T., Jr. and Connie Tindal of Novato, Calif.; sister, Mary Tindal Sanders of Charleston; and brother, Norman E. Tindal of Charlotte, N.C. He was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte Smith Tindal who died in 1990.
