Robert S. Soud, DDS, age 70, beloved husband, father, and grandfather (Jidy) passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Mayo Hospital, Jacksonville. A Jacksonville native, he graduated from Landon High School, class of 1957, The Citadel and Emory University School of Dentistry. He served as a Captain in the United States Army in Fort Lewis, Washington. Dr. Soud practiced dentistry in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beach for 40 years. He was a member of many professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, The Florida Dental Association, The Jacksonville Dental Society, the Northeast District Dental Society, The Academy of General Dentistry, The Florida Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. A member of Sawgrass Country Club, he was an avid golfer and fisherman. However, his grandchildren were the light of his life and his greatest joy was spending time with them, especially on “”Jidy’s beach””. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda, his daughters and sons-in-law, Kristi and Michael Koerner and Kelly and Chip Corsmeier and his four grandchildren, Calice and Casey Koerner and Cameron and Olivia Corsmeier. He is also survived by his brothers, Dr. Gene Soud (June) and Dr. Gary Soud (Treesa), his sister, Jacqueline Deckel (Bert), his brother-in-law Bill Miller (Linda) and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20th at Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. He will be laid to rest, with military honors, at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Bridge of Northeast Florida, Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville or a charity of choice.
