TIPPINS Robert R. (Bobby) Tippins, III, 60, died December 8, 2002 at his residence in Evans County, surrounded by his family. He was a member of Claxton First Baptist Church and married Judy Hodges Tippins, with whom he celebrated his 40th Anniversary this past year. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Joseph (Bob) Tippins, his parents, R.R. Jr., and Theresa Tippins, a sister, Karen Tippins Bradley and an aunt, Frances Tippins Laws. A native of Evans County, Tippins has contributed to the fabric of the community by promoting growth and serving his fellowman. He served the community in a multitude of ways from volunteering to giving, to serving. After graduating from Claxton High School in 1960, Tippins graduated from the Citadel in 1964, and a graduate of the University of Georgia Banking School. Employed by Tippins Bank and Trust Company since 1964, he became President and Chairman in 1982. He owned Tippins Insurance Agency. Survivors, his wife, Judy Hodges Tippins of Claxton; a son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Amy Tippins of Claxton; one sister, Nancy Tippins of Claxton; several nieces, nephews and a great-niece and great-nephew. Visitation Tuesday, December 10, 6:00 PM until at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home in Claxton. Funeral will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, with Dr. Carlton Allen and Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial, Brewton Cemetery.
