ROBERT QUILLEN JAWS LATHAM, 79, died Monday, July 3, 2006 at Rex Hospital. He was raised in Eden, NC, served in the US Army during World War II as a Private First Class and was a 1952 graduate of the Citadel with a BA in English. He was the owner of Robert Q. Latham Insurance Agency for 25 years. He enjoyed the many summers at Kerr Lake entertaining family and friends aboard his house boat The African Queen. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Pat Donnelly Latham. Surviving are: his daughters, Kimberly Latham Black of Tonasket, WA and Victoria Latham Hummer of St. Petersburg, FL; sons, Dr. Robert Chug Latham, Jr. of Lake Wylie, SC and Anthony Tony Latham of Raleigh; sisters, Anne Johnson and husband, Sam of Raleigh and Jane Latham of New Bern; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2006 at Brown- Wynne Funeral Home, Millbrook Road. The family will receive friends from 10 -11 a.m. prior to the chapel service.
