Robert Marion Zeigler, Sr. age 84, of Fairfax, husband of Patricia Hunter Zeigler died Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Mr. Zeigler was a native of Fairfax and a son of Edward Allauid and Maude Speaks Zeigler. He was a graduate of The Citadel, an accountant at Westinghouse and a farmer. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp. Veteran of WWII having served as a radar operator on troop ships to Europe. Mr. Zeigler was a member of Fairfax First Baptist Church where he was a past Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Department Secretary, Deacon, active member of Seekers Sunday School Class, and member of Young at Heart. Marion was past member of Fairfax Town Council, served on Board of Education for Allendale County Public Schools and Allendale Academy, past member of Fairfax Jaycees, served as Chairman of Allendale Democratic Party and State Executive Committeeman. He was past owner of Zeigler-Padgett Crop Dusting Co. Inc., John Deere Company of Ehrhardt and Denmark and manager of R.R. Speaks Oil Company in Fairfax. Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 21, 2010, at Fairfax First Baptist Church with Reverend Phillip Latta and Reverend Gene Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfax Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Hunter Zeigler of Fairfax; one son, Robert Marion Zeigler, Jr. (Torri) of Austin, TX; two daughters, Susan Z. Massey (Duncan) of Beaufort and Janet Z. McKenzie (Johnny) of Hampton; grandchildren, Rhett Massey, Hunter Massey, Nina McKenzie, John Christian McKenzie, Katie Zeigler and Anna Zeigler; one brother, Edward T. Zeigler (Dot) of North Augusta; one sister, Virginia Z. DeLoach (Robert) of Beaufort.
