Robert Kyle Hendrix, 73, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, May 15, 2022 at his home. Born January 21, 1949 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late William Loman and Ella Mae Welborn Hendrix. Robert was a 1971 graduate of The Citadel. He was retired from Auriga Polymers Inc. after 43 years of service. A member of Fernwood Baptist Church, he was a Sunday School teacher, Chairman of the Deacons, choir member, longtime member of the Board of Directors of Total Ministries, and the Mental Health Associate. He also volunteered with The Red Cross. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 47 years, Joan O. Hendrix, their daughters, Mary Welborn Underwood (Jack) of Inman, SC and Virginia Kyle Phillips (Scott) of Liberty, SC, their sons, Scott Belcher (Clarissa) of Fort Mill, SC, and Garry Belcher (Brenda) of Martin, GA, 12 grandchildren, Sandra Underwood, Jackson Underwood, Haley Phillips, Alexandria Phillips, Jacob Belcher, Joy Saavedra, John Saavedra, Alec Oliver, Austin Oliver, Dakota Belcher, Kelly Packard, and Kevin Pruitt, three great grandchildren, Hayden Pruitt, Riley Packard, and Ava Packard, and his siblings, Bill Hendrix (Peggy) of Murrell’s Inlet, SC and Betty Deal of Spartanburg, SC. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ginny McEntyre. A Memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Fernwood Baptist Church, 200 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Matt Johnson and The Rev. Dr. P.
