Major Robert James “Jimmy” Weeks, Jr., US Army (Retired), 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Frances Gaddis Weeks entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 17, 2013. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 in the Grace United Methodist Church, 1601 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard at 11:00 am. Interment, Weeks Tiverton Cemetery on Highway 52 North of Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in Grace United Methodist Church Celebration Center. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Robert was born February 14, 1925 in McBeth, South Carolina, son of Robert James Weeks, Sr. and Kate Spiers Weeks. While attending The Citadel he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp, serving as a Tail Gunner and Navigations Assistant. After an Honorable discharge, he reentered The Citadel as a Veteran student and received a Degree in Engineering. He completed his military career as a Major in the United States Army Reserves. Robert joined the South Carolina Highway Department as an engineer in Greenwood, South Carolina, later relocating to Charleston. At the conclusion of his career with the Highway Department he held the position of Resident Engineer and was in charge of highway roads for the 6 Low Country Counties, District 6. He was instrumental in the design and construction of the Mark Clark Express Way. Robert retired in 1992. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Gaddis Weeks; his daughter, Nancy Joe Weeks Foster and her husband Will Foster of Clemson, SC; a granddaughter, Joe Cassie Foster of Clemson, SC; two sisters, Patricia Weeks Motte and Charlotte Catherine Weeks both of Charleston. He is predeceased by one brother Beverly Spiers Weeks and three sisters Barbara Weeks Goodrich, Diane Carol Weeks and Nancy Jane Weeks.
