Kirk III, Robert James Robert James Kirk III, 84, passed to glory on May 7, 2006 in his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Kirk was born March 1, 1922 in Plattsburg, N.Y. to Col. Robert James Kirk, Jr. and Cleo Margaret (Curry) Kirk, who preceded him in death. His brother, Franklin Curry Kirk also preceded him in death. Bob married Blanche Belle Horkheimer February 22, 1951 in Dubuque, IA. She preceded him in death, February 13, 1989. He is survived by four sons: Richard (Laurie) Sanger, John (Gail) Sanger, Robert (Susan) Kirk, Franklin (Wendy) Kirk; two daughters: Katherine (Dale) Conrad and Bonnie Briggs (Gary Epperson). His brother, Courtenay Kirk (Mercedes) of Silver Springs Maryland survives. Pa is also survived by his 19 grandchildren: Chad, Kalie, Mandy, Jenny, Torie, Ryan Matthew, Sarah, Taylor, Courtenay, Amanda, Blanche, Lindsey, Nicole, Beau, Jessica Belle, Gracie, Jessica Johanna, and Sarah Jayne. Also surviving are his six great grandchildren: Alexis, Cortland, Cache, Austin, Jordyn and Brylee. Lt. Col. Kirk began his military career after his 1943 graduation from The Citadel Military Academy in Charleston, S.C. for his service during World War II in the European Theater Colonel Kirk received the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge. Following his military career Mr. Kirk was employed by American National Insurance Company for 20 years. The Gazette Telegraph, Pizza Hut restaurants, RJ Kirk Enterprises and K.C. Drywall Inc. He will be remembered for his faith, love, commitment and devotion to his family. Pa was greatly loved and will forever be missed. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO., Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Dale L. Conrad presiding.
