Name Residence: Robert J. Bullen Raleigh,NC Date of Death: 01/27/2007 Notice Robert John Bob Bullen died at home on January 27, 2007, after a long battle with cncer. Born and educated in Brooklyn, NY, Bob attended the Citadel in Charleston, SC, graduating in 1960. He worked briefly for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, becoming a million dollar salesman, before going into the broadcast sales business. Bob worked 28 years for Group W TV, selling time on Westinghouse owned TV stations in five major markets, commuting to New York City from his home in Mahopac, NY., before taking an early retirement. For six years he served on the Mahopac Board of Education. After retiring he and his wife owned and operated a Mail Boxes Etc. Store in Scarsdale, NY. Moving to Chapel Hill in 1998, Bob failed retirement and worked for Montrose Gardens in Hillsborough, as a starter at the Occaneechee Golf Course and found his niche working at Habitat for Humanity in Pittsboro as Director of Donations. He loved to garden and to golf, and enjoyed being Santa Claus for the Lake Hogan Farms Christmas parties and for Maple View Farm. Thanks to Dr. Philip Walther and others at Duke Medical Center who gave him extra years of enjoying life. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betsy; sons, Daniel of Burlington, VT, and Michael of Pau, France, daughter-in-law, Jennifer; granddaughters, Sophie and Olivia. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at the Carol Woods assembly hall on Weaver Dairy Road on Saturday, March 17 from 10:00 to 12:00.
