Robert Irving Hennessy, of Doylestown, PA passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at his home with his family by his side. He was 71. He was the beloved husband of nearly 50 years to Diana W. Berlecky Hennessy. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Mildred King HennessyRobert was a resident of the quaint town of Carversville for the past 20 years, having lived previously in Holland, PA, and Trevose, PA. He grew up in Southampton, PA and went to William Tennant HS. He attended college at The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina where he was part of the graduating class of 1969. He married his high school sweetheart, Diana in that same year. He served in the Army and was stationed outside Stuttgart, Germany until 1973After Robert returned home, he worked in the Information Technology sector until his retirement in 2014. While working for IBM and then later with Rohm and Haas, he completed his master’s degree at Temple University. He went on to work for SmithKline in Philadelphia, King of Prussia and finally at the lab in Norristown. After the split up of SmithKline, he continued to work for Quest Diagnostics, Lab Corp and finally retired after working ABIM. Even into his retirement, Robert followed what he loved and volunteered with the local chapter of the Bucks County Audubon Society, where he eventually became PresidentRobert was a Bibliophile, Ornithophile, Dixie the Dog Loving, Naturalist, John Denver Aficionado, VW Bus Enthusiast, True Thinker, Amazing Husband, Greatest Father & Pop-Pop, Folk Music Junkie, Citadel Proud, Loud Soccer Spectator, Red Beard Wearing, John Lennon Glasses Sporting, Wise-Cracking, Gosling Pond Nurturer, Life Coach, True Gentleman, And Just One Gosh Darn Kind, Lovely Human Being that has been taken from this world……In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sons; Patrick Hennessy and his fiancee Hope Laurence of Douglassville, PA and Brad Hennessy and his wife Liisa Hennessy of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by his two granddaughters; Caitlin and Wilhelmina “Willow” HennessyRelatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the Joseph A.
