Robert Hucks Nuttall, a commercial real estate specialist, of Mount Pleasant, died on Sunday, July 16, 2017. Bob was born on October 15, 1940, the son of Norman H. Nuttall, a native of England, and Ora Belle Hucks Nuttall of Georgetown, SC. Bob attended Moultrie High School in Mt. Pleasant with the class of 1958, graduated from The Citadel in 1962, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Army. After five years in industrial sales in New York City, Syracuse and Houston, Bob moved to Charlotte and entered the business of commercial real estate, forming Nuttall Associates, Ltd. in 1974 to offer leasing and property management services to owners and developers of office buildings and shopping centers in the Carolinas. In March of 1980, he moved his family to Charleston, South Carolina where he continued to specialize in the field of commercial real estate. Bob was very active in various civic and charitable organizations in the Charleston area. He was a member of The Citadel Board of Visitors and served as a member of the Board of Directors, East Cooper Hospital; a member of the Board of Directors, Eagle Harbor Boy’s Ranch; and a member of the Board of Trustees, Hibernian Society of Charleston Foundation. Bob was an Honorary Life Member of the Hibernian Society of Charleston. He was a Member of the Washington Light Infantry, and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was also a Life Member and Past District Director of the Association of Citadel Men, a member of the Theta Commission Kappa Alpha Order, and Past Commodore of the Edisto Island Yacht Club. Bob was President of the Sertoma Club of Charleston, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Charleston Men’s Chorus. He was an active Member of St. Philip’s Church, where he served on the Vestry as both Junior and Senior Warden. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 53 years, June Hopkins Nuttall, three sons, Bob, Jr. (Jeri), Bill (Jessica), and Eddie (Jacqueline), all of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren-Cori, Austin, Meg, Ryan, Anna Scott, Leaton, and Liam; brothers Joe of Charleston, and Bill of Charlotte; sister Norma Mackenzie of Charlotte, plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC, from 5:00-7:00 pm. The funeral service will be Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Philips Church, 142 Church Street, Charleston at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
