Robert Garland Dillard, of Johns Island, entered into eternal rest 5-10-2022. He was surrounded by friends and family. Robert (Bob) was born on February 22,1933. He was the son of the late Garland M. Dillard and Margaret Erwin Dillard. He was the widower of Shirley J. Dillard, to whom he was married to for 62 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Warren Dillard, Sr. and has a sister, Barbara D. White (Jim) of Tennessee, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob graduated from Rivers high school in 1951 and served in the US Navy. He attended Clemson and graduated from the Citadel in 1959. He worked for Johnson and Johnson Insurance Managers and retired in 1999. He was a member of Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church. Arrangements are handled by Charleston Cremation Center. The family requests in lieu Donations be made to Asbury-St James United Methodist Church at 754 Rutledge Ave., Charleston, SC 29403 or to Roper Hospice Cottage, 676 Wando Park Blvd, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 or to The American Cancer Society. A Graveside service will be held for for Robert G. Dillard and his beautiful wife, Shirley J. Dillard (4-15-2022) at Riverview Cemetery on May 20, 2022 at 11:00 am.
