DANA, R. Payson DARLINGTON – R. Payson Dana, age 22, died Friday, March 30, 2007. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at First Baptist Church with an Episcopal service. The committal will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home. Payson, a triplet, was born in a Florence hospital on November 30, 1984. Surviving are his parents, Dwight Dana and Paula Fleming Dana of Darlington; his brothers, R. Brenton Dana and J. Radisson Dana, students respectively at the University of South Carolina and The Citadel; and his devoted English bulldog, Conroy. He is a grandson of the late Oscar and Pennie Mae Fleming and Richard and Madge Dana of Darlington. Payson and his brothers were the first triplets in the history of the Boy Scouts to receive the Eagle Scout award at the same time. Payson was a senior at the Citadel, majoring in business administration with a minor in economics. He planned to attend law school after graduating from The Citadel, if he ever got through walking tours. Payson was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. He and his brothers grew up being acolytes at St. Matthew’s and continued to acolyte at 11:00 p.m. service each Christmas Eve. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 210 S. Main Street, Darlington, SC 29532. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at 120 N. Ervin Street.
