Richard O. Bergeron, Taneytown, MD died on May, 7 2015 due to ongoing health issues. Born May 23, 1928, Montague, MA, the son of J. Omer and Irene Bergeron, deceased. He graduated Greenfield High School, Greenfield, MA 1946, served in the U. S. Army 1952-1954. Graduated The Citadel, Charleston, SC 1959 as a veteran student where he played varsity football for four years. He was named to “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities” and held positions on various committees throughout the four years. He Was a Life Member of The Citadel Alumni Association. He loved the game of golf and was an avid reader of western stories. During his 40 years as a roofing salesman and district manager, the family moved a great deal. He retired from Tamko Building Products in January 1999. He held various part time positions after retirement, worked both permanent and as a volunteer at Clustered Spires golf course for 15 years, the last as a service recovery driver for the Frederick News Post. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, AMVETS, and the American legion. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Thurmont, MD.
He was the husband of Mary Howard Bergeron they were married 60 years she died November 29, 2008.He is survived by, a daughter Jeanne Clark, her husband Mike, a granddaughter, Brittany Tinsman and her Fiancé Chad Dewees and their son Kaiden of Thurmont, MD and granddaughter, Jessica Dixon of Frederick, MD and two great grandsons, Jaylen and Elwyne Jr and a great granddaughter Janelle and a special friend Mary Holloman of Thurmont, MD. A sister, Rita Belanger, her husband, Arthur, of Turners Falls, MA, a brother, Bernard and his wife, Viola, of Colrain, MA, a sister in law, Anita Bergeron of Greenfield, MA and a loving extended family. He was predeceased by his Wife Mary to whom he was wed for 60 years, a son Joseph and a younger brother, Bob.
His wishes are to be cremated. There will be a Mass on Saturday May 9, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Thurmont, MD with a reception following in the Parish Hall adjacent to the church.
