Richard Hanckel Hair, 86, husband of Freida Gearhart, of Isle of Palms, South Carolina died on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. The relatives and friends of Richard Hair are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Monday, December 10, 2012 in Christ Episcopal Church, (Historic Church), Mt. Pleasant at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., FUNERAL CHAPELS, MOUNT PLEASANT LOCATION. Richard was born on October 6, 1926 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Clifton LeCroy Hair and Sallie Screven Jervey Hair. He was a graduate of Charleston High School (Class of 1943) and the Citadel (Class of 1949). He served in the United States Navy during World War II, the Korean War and in the Naval Reserves. He was employed by the J.E. Sirrine Corporation prior to his retirement in 1985. Richard was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Mt. Pleasant, where he sang in the choir and served as a volunteer organist for the 8:00 am Sunday service. Also an avid jazz musician, he sang in numerous barbershop quartets, the most recent being “The Bypass Four.” He is survived by his wife, Freida Gearhart of Isle of Palms, SC; three children, Catherine Rahmeier, Richard Hanckel Hair, Jr. and Renee Roy; three grandchildren, Theodosia Logue, Judith Margaret Hair and Catherine Ravenel Roy; and one great grandchild, Madeleine Brown Logue.
