A memorial service to honor the life of Richard Emerson Bonnette, Jr., of Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington S. C. with the Reverend David Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Born March 20, 1945 in Charleston, South Carolina, Mr. Bonnette was the son of the late Richard E. Bonnette and Nancy Rish Bonnette. He was a graduate of Wagener High School and The Citadel, Class of 1967. He graduated in 1970 from USC School of Law. Mr. Bonnette practiced law in Lexington, South Carolina and later became a real estate broker. He was currently working with Coldwell Banker of Lexington as a commercial real estate broker. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Adele Gunter Bonnette; a son, Richard E. Bonnette, III (Joanne) of Silver Spring Maryland; a sister, Lynn Bailey (Gary Rodrick) of Gainesville, Florida; a brother, Gerry Bonnette (Jan) of West Columbia; sisters-in-law, Cora Bodie (Bill), Joyce Daniel (David), Ethel Ann Furtick (Jack), Lois Morrow (Tommy) and Dennis Armstrong. He is also survived by his loving granddaughters, Olivia and Nora, many nieces, nephews and cherished friends. A special “Thank you” is extended to Dr. Carey Hite, his staff, and the many health care providers at the Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital for their compassionate, loving care that helped Mr. Bonnette and his family during this difficult time.
