Richard C. Cooley, Sr., age 75, of Hockessin, DE, went home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2010, at the Christiana Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. After graduating from the Citadel in 1956, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army serving two years active duty. He continued to serve for the next 19 years in the Army Reserves retiring as a Colonel. Rick retired from the DuPont Company as an Occupational Health Consultant. He was a member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the Music Box Society International. He enjoyed mechanical music machines, traveling with his wife Betty and spending time with his grandchildren. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Brooks and Mallie Cooley. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty King Cooley, his sons, Richard C. Cooley, Jr. and Brooks T. Cooley, his grandchildren, Nathan, Benjamin and Etsuko, his brothers, Allan Brooks Cooley, Guy Edwin Cooley and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday, August 19, from 10-11 am, at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church 308 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711 where a service will begin at 11 am.
