Memorial service for Richard Bryan “”Dick”” Wilson, 92, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, in Columbia. The family received friends from 3 until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2011, in the Guignard Mansion at Still Hopes and will also receive on Wednesday following the memorial service in the church parlor. There will be a private burial at a later date in First Presbyterian churchyard. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Wilson died Sunday, May 22, 2011. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Hugh Walford and Catherine McGregor Bryan Wilson. He attended Columbia City schools and was a member of the Class of 1942 at The Citadel Military College. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II and was discharged with the rank of Captain. He retired from the R.L. Bryan Company after 34 years as a Vice President and member of the Board of Directors. He was a member of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce where he served on the Board of Directors and as committee chairman, and a 50-year member and past president of the Golden K Kiwanis Club of Columbia. A former member of First Presbyterian Church, he served as a deacon, elder, Sunday School Bible class teacher and class president. He was an elder at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, his current church. During his adult life, he was a member of the S.C. Historical Society, Forest Lake Country Club, Evening Music Club and Columbia Cotillion Club. He was especially proud of his many years of volunteer service with the S.C. Mental Health Hospital and Harvest Hope. He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed golfing, fishing and bow hunting. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Dale Lott Wilson of Still Hopes; son, Richard Bryan Wilson Jr. (Ann Kuhne) of Columbia; daughters, Catherine McGregor Wilson Burke (Andy) of Johnson City, Tenn., Laura Lee Wilson Rose of St. Helena Island, Dale Wilson Hatchell (Jim) of Columbia; ten grandchildren, Michael Burke (Janet), Catherine Burke McKenzie, Richard Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Stephen Wilson, Gregory Wilson, Caroline Wilson, Sam Floyd, Elizabeth Hatchell Burt (Travis), Bryan Hatchell; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda, Catherine, Lauren, Jacob, Logan, Sarah Beth and Lilly. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lois Laws Wilson and brothers, Hugh Walford Wilson Jr. and Berkeley Bryan Wilson.
