Richard A. (Dick) Repetto, 80, of Rehoboth Beach, Del., passed on March 28, 2021 in the Cooper Trauma Center in Camden, NJ, after a recent car accident.
Mr. Repetto was born in Washington, DC, the son of Edmund J. and Teresa L. Repetto. He grew up in Charlotte, NC and graduated from Central High School. In 1962, he graduated from The Citadel, Charleston, SC, with a B.S. degree in business administration. While at The Citadel, he was a Dean’s List student, cheerleader, and member of the Catholic choir.
Following graduation, he served in the United States Air Force as a First Lieutenant and was assigned to Headquarters Tactical Air Command as Chief Manpower Engineering with duty station at Nellis AFB, NV.
In 1966, he joined the E.I. DuPont Fabrics and Finishes Department in sales in Richmond, VA. Nine months later he was transferred to corporate headquarters in Wilmington, DE as Product Manager of Consumer Paints. In 1970, he became the youngest district manager F&F.
His 34-year career spanned six operating departments and eleven business holding positions in sales, sales management, marketing management, business management, new product development management, Manager Technology Transfer and finally Strategic Planning Manager for the Polyester Resins and Intermediates business.
In 1996, he was the recipient of the prestigious DuPont Corporate Marketing Excellence Award for the pioneering work he did with Mylar Polyester Film management to establish a joint venture in China. The JV was negotiated, approved, plant constructed and start-up completed in a record 15 months. In 1999, he retired.
Following his DuPont career, he launched SBSI, a business consulting company, he also worked with H&R Block as a tax consultant, for over 16 years he volunteered as a tax consultant and client facilitator for AARP Tax-Aide.
He is survived by his wife, Joan T. Lawler Repetto; children, Teresa Ann Repetto, Michael B. Repetto, Cynthia C. Repetto, Kimberly R. Ayers and her husband Mike; stepsons, Christopher M. Lawler and his wife, Laura, and Bryan J. Lawler and his wife, Angelica; and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Eleanor J. Repetto of Duxbury, MA and Donna Marie Richardson and her husband, William of Greensboro, NC.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 12 Noon followed by a service at 1 PM at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warriors, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66875.
