Raymond A. “Ray” Jones, 72, of Hanover, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Ray was the loving husband to Kathleen D. (Adams) “Kathi” Jones, Hanover.
He was born February 18, 1942 in Glen Ridge, NJ the son of the late Richard William and Catherine (Booth) Jones.
Ray was an accountant for Atlas Roofing Corp., Camp Hill and W. Hal Wyatt CPA, Hanover. After moving to Hanover in 1984, he joined St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 30 years. He was a past board member of the YMCA where he also helped with the Indian Guides. Ray enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Thursday night men’s bowling league at South Hanover Lanes. When his children were in school, he was involved with the Park Hills Packers.
In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his children, Stephen J. Gambal, III, Hanover, Raymond T. Jones, Perkasie, Joseph F. Gambal, Myrtle Beach, SC, Shannon D. Kretz, Myrtle Beach, SC, Gregory A. Jones, Raleigh, NC, Rachael A. Brannock, Hanover, Bryann S. Shaffer, Hanover and Ashleigh Behanna-Jones, Hanover; three foster children, Eyrica, Liza, Montana and her daughter Adrianna; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Everett and Richard Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 14th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover with Rev. Stephen P. Kelley, Celebrant. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover and on Monday from 10 AM until the time of Mass at the church.
