Randall “Randy” Moore died peacefully at home on December 9, 2019 in Summerville, SC at the age of 81. Randy is survived by his wife, Linda “Lynn” Moore; children, James (Angela) Moore and Randalyn (Brian) Malak; siblings, Sandra Creed, Linda Hatton, and Doug Moore; grandchildren, Cole, Hunter, Sydney, Brandon, Ryan, Matthew, Jason, and Ashlynn (Sunshine); great-grandchildren, Colby and CJ. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Moore, Sr. and Lena Estelle Baxley; siblings, Frank Moore and William Moore, Jr. Randy was born on February 3, 1938 in Alexandria, Virginia. He was honored to serve in the Army from 1961 to 1963. He graduated from University of Maryland in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, and from The Citadel in 2003 with a Master of Art in Education. He married the love of his life, Lynn, in 1965 and they remained married for 54 years until his passing. His wife and children remember him as a devoted and dedicated father who supported them in every aspect of their lives. Randy was excellent at mathematics and in his later years used this talent to teach math to at-risk youth. For this, he was awarded a Point of Light by President George H.W. Bush. He then taught with Charleston Adult Education. He was a dedicated teacher who was passionate about educating students and helping them work towards a better life. He was a devoted Christian who served his church as a teacher, deacon, committee chair and superintendent of Sunday school. A funeral is scheduled for December 11 at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services Summerville . There will be a viewing from 3:00-4:00 with a service following at 4:00. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Randy’s life.
